‘PARTY’ OF THE YEAR: PLAN A FUN 2021 NEW YEAR’S EVE AT HOME

Contents...

New Year’s Eve 2021 just may be the most anticipated event of the year. That’s because we are all so ready to put 2020 behind us! Can we start popping the champagne now?

Of course, in years past staying in and watching the ball drop from home was the international symbol for “I have kids” or “I have no plans”. But in a year of quarantine, we’ve learned to embrace being home and found lots of ways to make it extra fun!

Set the scene

Scope out your drawers, party boxes, etc., and find fun elements that remind you of New Year’s Eve celebrations. Look for disco balls, horns, feather boas, streamers, and balloons.

Make a New Year’s Eve 2021 banner with some fun supplies at home, buy one from party city, or get a fun 2021 balloon pack from Joker’s party supply or Winner party supply.

Another fun idea is to make a DIY balloon drop! Check out this video for easy instructions:

Prep the food

Since it will be a long night, it’s a great time for grazing! Gather your favorite snacks and make a fun New Year’s eve charcuterie platter. Or order one that’s 2021 ready, like this one from Korver farms in La Habra.

For the main course, opt for something like this fabulous sushi platter from Sass Papa Sushi.

Or make a fabulous taco or nachos bar that encourages slow eating and going back for seconds.

There are lots of great desserts to try. One fun one is a “Bye 2020” chocolate breakable heart, like this one from Dipped by Vee.

Make a great drink

Champagne is a must for New Year’s Eve. Of course, we recommend Honey Bubbles for some delicious bubbly.

But to add a little something special for the big night here’s a delicious way to up your champagne game. We can’t wait to enjoy a glass of this on New Year’s Eve.

Holiday Mimosa

  • 1 1/2 ounces pomegranate liqueur
  • 1 ounce cranberry juice
  • 3 ounces Champagne (chilled)
  • Garnish: cranberries (fresh)
  • Garnish: a sprig of rosemary

Add the liqueur and cranberry juice to the glass, then top with champagne and garnishes.

Or you can skip the liqueur and top with sparkling cider instead of champagne for a fun drink the kids can enjoy too.

Plan the entertainment

In the year of constant ‘live streams’, you better believe New Year’s Eve 2021 will have lots of great online entertainment options! Some are free, some have a fee, but all will provide fabulous entertainment options.

If you’ve been enjoying the fabulous live streaming, here are a few who will be spinning on NYE:

  • Quarantine’s favorite DJ, DJ D-Nice will be hosting a New Year’s Eve version of Club Quarantine on IG live and Youtube.
  • If you’re a fan of house parties in the 90’s, check out Richard Humpty Vission on Twitch.TV/SkamArtist starting at 10 pm
  • To hear some great jams from today, mixed with some old school, check out DJ Rtistic on twitch.tv/rtistic310 starting at 7 pm PST. Hint: If you feel like going to be early, he’ll be doing a countdown for each timezone, so you can still celebrate!
  • DJ Angie Vee won our hearts over during quarantine with her throwback feel-good mixes. She will be spinning live on her @djangievee IG and on Twitch. Should be a good one!

Check out these options shared by Timeout.com:

Get dressed up…or not

You can get dressed up (because why the hell not!) or bring out your best footsie pajamas. If it’s one thing we love about 2020, it’s the lack of constricting undergarments and high heels. You can choose to put on your fanciest loungewear, get dolled up, or opt for PJ’s…it’s up to you!

The most important thing is that we get to say farewell to one crazy year, enjoy an evening where we count our blessings, and wish for a happy and safer 2021!
