LET’S PAW-TY! CELEBRATE A DOG’S BIRTHDAY PARTY

A first birthday is always special, especially when it’s for your fur baby! Our good friend Jenny adopted the love of her life, a red laberdoodle named Dundee, a year ago, and he’s been her pride and joy ever since. So naturally when it came time for his first birthday party, she wanted to host a paw-ty! Here’s her tips for hosting a dog birthday party. Host the party on neutral ground Dogs are territorial. It’s just in their nature! Host a dog birthday party at a neutral spot like a park or the Zoom Room so all the doggy friends can enjoy together without feeling the need to protect their turf. Keep it small Dogs are pretty unpredictable. That’s what makes them great! But because you don’t know exactly what they’ll do or how they’ll act, keep the group small. Dundee invited his cousins Cooper, Sammy, and Bife to his birthday party. Decorate Hey its a party, make it festive! Check out this fun dog birthday party decor. Get a dog-friendly birthday cake You can buy a cake from a place like Three Dog Bakery. Or you can make your own! Jenny’s good friend Yadie made Dundee this yummy cake that all the pups enjoyed: Make every dog feel special And if you ever get invited to a dog birthday party, here are some fun gift ideas to celebrate the birthday pup. CELEBRATING A QUINCEANERA

Quinceaneras have come such a long way! While traditions are still a big part of the celebration of a young Latina woman’s 15th birthday, the way that the big event is celebrated has evolved. We got to learn all about these traditions (new and old) while filming a recent segment for KTLA’s LA Unscripted on planning a Quincenera. We gave reporter Jasmine Simpkins a taste of what’s it’s like to be a “Quinceanera” by sharing the experience of Kristal Hernandez, who recently celebrated her Quinceanera. https://ktla.com/la-unscripted/festively-helps-los-angeles-local-plan-her-quinceanera/ Quinceanera Details Festively showcased some of the main traditions that are a must at a Quinceanera! This includes: Decor â€“ The decor is an exciting part of the celebration because it sets the tone of the Quinceanera’s favorite color or theme. Kristal’s colors are rose gold with blush pink and white. We worked with Porscha, Event planner and owner of Porscha’s Event Planning & More, who is planning Kristal’s big celebration. Porscha specializes in transforming a space from top to bottom, including lovely tablescapes, balloon styling, rentals and more. We also partnered with Chivitas Party Rentals who brought beautiful accents like a floral wall, IV marquee lights, “mis quince” sign, gold cake stands, table linens, and more. Drinks â€“ For any big celebration, but especially a Latin American celebration, you need to hire a bartender. For our KTLA segment, we showcased Awas y Mas. Not only do they provide fabulous cocktails made with there homemade aguas frescas, but they can also create an aguas frescas drink station for guests of all ages to enjoy. And they will also make sure your group does not get out of control! A Dress â€“ This is a must! Make it it big, sparkling and beautiful! We showcased Casa de Brides, located in the San Fernando Mall. There you can find a selection of dresses, accessories, and other items you’ll need for a quince (such as guy’s tuxedos). The dresses are high quality and super on trend. Food â€“ The food has to be good…it just has to! Or else you’ll hear about it for years to come. Many families chose to make their own food. We showcased caterer Chef Chivitas who made her delicious traditional mole, rice, and beans. All of her sauces are made from scratch, and she uses only the best ingredients. Silvia also made a decadent flan with two types of vanilla. Our mouths are still watering. Flowers â€“ Flowers can really elevate your guest’s experience. For the KTLA segment, we featured Mireya’s Flowers, who created beautiful floral accents and a gorgeous centerpiece to match the Quinceanera’s colors and theme. Dance â€“ The quinceanera’s dances are some of the most anticipated activities of the night! While we expect there to be a traditional waltz, we also very much look forward to a surprise dance! This is an opportunity for the quinceanera to have some fun, show off her personality, and have a whole outfit change to match. We partnered with Lenny, dance instructor from Danzone who has worked with quinceaneras and their families for 20 years to show us all the latest dance moves.  Venue â€“ we partnered with Acre Ranch to give us the feel of being on a real ranch for Kristal’s big day. It was the perfect spot for an intimate party. https://youtube.com/watch?v=XJ7avkc1JGE%3Ffeature%3Doembed About Kristal’s Quinceanera Kristal’s mom Celeste shared the ways their family is celebrating the big event, which will be a little non-traditional. For example, instead of a mass (traditional), Kristal will have a blessing in a private ceremony led by her uncle who is a Christian pastor (non-traditional.) For food, Kristal’s family will make a traditional mole. The venue is at a traditional ranch, where everyone and their mama is invited to come dance the night away. But instead of having a full court of ‘damas’, or girls who would escort Kristal during her celebration, she’s having a court of 7 ‘chambelanes’, or boys who will be her escort for the party and the dance. One thing is for sure… Celeste has a lot of family members who want to help! While this is a great thing, it can also make things tricky. Each family member wants to provide input and you just can’t please everyone! But Celeste and her husband know they are very lucky. They have a loving family who are so excited to show love and support for Kristal as she marks her passage from girlhood to womanhood. We are so excited for all of life’s big moments! And were very blessed to be able to capture the excitement with KTLA’s unscripted.

PLAN A FANTASTIC SUPER BOWL PARTY WITH THESE TIPS

When planning a super bowl party you need three main things: great food, cold drinks, and a big, quality sounding TV. But to take it up a notch, you’ll want to add festive decorations and fun games that get everyone involved. We’re happy to share our Super Bowl party planning tips to help you have the best Big Game party ever! Select your Super Bowl color scheme and theme. Have you noticed the colors for the Super Bowl LIV teams are similar? You can go with the theme of team colors or the traditional football theme:✔️49ers Colors – Red, gold, white & black✔️Chief’s colors – Red, yellow, black & white✔️Traditional football colors – White, green, & brownOnce you have a theme for your party look for party essentials such as cups, straws, and napkins in those colors. Then put it all together for a perfect game day look. The accents is where the fun comes in. Look for game day banners, balloons, marquee signs or letters. Look for artificial grass turf and the referee patterns to finish off your game day decor. Now chill the drinks using a rented party barge and make a chalkboard sign menu. Another super bowl party tip to make your game day party all that and more is the drinks. You can serve your beer in bottles, but jazz up other drinks by serving them in brass cups decorated like footballs. Try making faux grass drink coasters. Help guests with their cocktail recipes by placing a menu on a chalkboard sign. Put all the mix-ins nearby using a party barge (yes you can rent the party barge.) Finalize the accents with a game day cake and party snacks designed with your team colors or football color scheme. There are many desserts you can serve at your super bowl party. We love cakes and cupcakes, but break out the cookies decorated like footballs, cake pops with your team logo, and a classic brownie to keep your crowd cheering. Because everyone will be occupied with the game, it is safe to start with bite size desserts. Then cut the cake in the 4th quarter or after the game has ended. Add elements of fun to your game day with a few games everyone can play. Our final super bowl party tips are to add games. When groups of friends come over that don’t know each other very well, they tend to stay in their own comfort zone. There’s nothing like some good old fashioned games to get folks mingling and having fun. Here are a few to consider: ✔️ You have to do a “football squares” game,  but we recommend having two of them. Create one that guests can pay to enter, and one that’s free to enter, but requires participation. For help with this game, see How to play super bowl “Squares.” Guests can earn a square on the free game if they: bring a dish, wear a jersey, take a shot, take a photo in front of a selfie wall, etc. You can create a list of ways to earn a free square and post it somewhere visible. The crowd will be eager to participate, especially if they know there’s a prize. Give out a halftime prize such as a bottle of spirits and a final prize such as a gift card. ✔️Hand out a “props bet” sheet & pen to everyone. These sheets ask fun questions like, how long will the national anthem be, who will score first, and will the coach be wearing a hat? As folks get answers correct, they can put their name on the free squares game. For help with this game, see Big game “Props Bets” – Printable. ✔️Play “commercial bingo. ” Hand everyone a bingo sheet that lists the various commercials that play during the big game. Examples are Coca Cola, Budweiser, anything with a puppy. Just like regular bingo, whoever gets for in a row wins a prize. For help with this game, see the Big Game “Commercial Bingo” – Printable. ✔️When guests arrive, give them a Mardi Gras-style beads necklace. They can pick the 49ers or Chiefs colors, or their own team’s favorite color. Then, pick a word the guests cannot say, such as ‘game’. Throughout the party, if they say that word, their beads can get stolen. The person with the most beads by the 4th quarter wins. ✔️Have some fun yard games around the backyard that encourages more interaction and mingling, such as giant Jenga and cornhole. Enjoy your game day and these game day party tips. Can’t wait to see how you make them your own!
