5 THINGS YOU NEED FOR A FALL PARTY!

Fall is in the air, and with it comes the desire to gather with friends and family, and host fall parties and get-togethers! We love a themed party, and what’s a better theme than Fall?! So much you can do, so many ways you can decorate, and even better, the children enjoy the fun just as much as we do. In honor of Fall-themed parties, we thought we’d put together a list of MUST-HAVES for your next get-together. Take these with a grain of salt, you CAN do it all yourself, but why do that when you can hire out some help and actually enjoy your party?! 1. Hire A Bartender (Not Your Cousin) Yes, you can save money by bartending yourself or counting on one of your guests to do so. The thing with that is someone is missing out on all the fun to continuously make drinks all night, and usually, the drinks are just ok. Mobile bartenders are perfect for this role. They take care of all the alcohol and bar cleanup for you, and will even make signature drinks for YOUR party! If you’re in the LA area, check out Curly Bartender, they are perfect to take care of all of your guests’ alcohol needs. 2. Book Balloons From a Professional (Not the Dollar Tree) Balloons are a must-have at every party. Since you can buy a pack of balloons on your own, this can be an easy place to skimp and try to do them yourself. This Fall, let’s not skimp! There are balloon professionals who would love to make for you the balloon bouquet or garland of your dreams! Plus balloon garlands are much harder to create than they look. Sys Balloon Designs by Nancy is perfect to design for you a spooky look you’ve been dreaming of. Check out her website for info! 3. Order A Custom Cake (Not Like Your Mother’s Box Cake) Cakes are often a place we choose to save when hosting a party. We can buy a box of mix and do it ourselves or pick up one from the market. But just this once, why not go all out and have the best Autumn/spooky cake in town? Yes we can make it, or our mother’s can, but there’s nothing like a beautiful custom cake to end a special night with. Also, you have a bunch of extra time to focus on other parts of your Fall party, like decor, when you are not baking the cake yourself! Check out Samantha’s Cakes N Bakes for the fall party cake of your dreams! She serves the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles area, visit her website for more info! 4. Order Flowers from a Florist (Not of the Fake Ones) Flowers are definitely a task that’s better when trusted to the florists. They can take your bouquet vision and bring it to life with every flower imaginable. With your vision and their knowledge, your fall party bouquets will be a hit! Check out the Blooming Vase for the perfect custom flowers for your next occasion! 5. Order Custom Cookies (And Enjoy Your Party!) Cookies are one thing that you can definitely tell when they are done by a professional. For your Fall party, make sure yours are baked (and more importantly, decorated!) by a professional. Let them know your theme and let them run with it! Again you’ll be able to focus on things like decor while someone else makes the perfect cookies to match your Fall party theme. Your guests will thank you for the deliciousness they get to devour! For cookies that are finger-licking good and beautiful to boot, check out Frost Your Cookie bakeshop! Your Fall party cookie prayers will definitely be answered. Like we said you CAN do it all. But parties are so much more fun and in line with your vision when you delegate some of your party-planning responsibilities and leave them to the professionals. With a couple of vendors, your Fall party can be enjoyable not only for your guests but also for you! Take a look on Festively.com to find a perfect vendor near you. We are the celebration marketplace helping you make your next celebration memorable.

FOLLOW ME TO SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, MX FOR DIA DE LOS MUERTOS! 🇲🇽💀🖤

We had the wonderful opportunity to visit San Miguel de Allende for Dia de los Muertos, and it was an incredible experience! San Miguel de Allende is a city in central Mexico that is known for its beautiful architecture, thriving arts scene, and fabulous food. The heart of the city is the Cathedral (Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel) which is surrounded by a plaza (El Jardin) and winding cobblestoned streets lined with shops and restaurants. Our good friends have decided to retire in San Miguel de Allende and couldn’t wait to show us the town they fell in love with. We were so lucky to visit with them! They know the town well and were fabulous hosts. They also had already made friends with a group of locals who extended the warm welcome to us as well. It is a beautiful town on its own, but add in one of Mexicos most spiritual and meaningful holidays, and you’ll be mesmerized by the colorful flowers, fun traditions, and a welcoming environment that will have you wanting to become a local!?? Here are all the details from our trip, including travel plans, the restaurants we tried, and all the activities. ?? Travel You have a few options to get to San Miguel from Los Angeles: Our route: We took a direct flight out of Tijuana to Leon, Guanajuato. To leave out of the Tijuana airport, you actually park in San Diego and use the Cross Border Xpress (CBX) to walk to your terminal. If you go this route, get there early, especially if you aren’t a fluent Spanish speaker. Checking a bag is not recommended since you will have to wait in a very long separate line to check your bag. If you fly from TJ, it’s a 2.5 hour direct flight to Leon, then a 1.5 hour drive to San Miguel. The Leon airport is small like Burbank. An alternative is to fly from LA to Mexico City. There are a lot of direct flight options, but when you land, it’s 3.5 hour drive to San Miguel. You may get lucky and find a direct flight from LA to Leon, or LA to Queretaro (another regioal airport). No matter what, you’ll need to drive a bit to get to San Miguel de Allende. Rent a car, or…. There are shuttles you can take to San Miguel from the airport, or you can arrange to have a driver pick you up. Rent a car if you do not plan on staying near town, or want to venture out of town. Once you’re in town, there are taxis everywhere or even Uber. But you can also walk to most places. Stay We are a little biased. We stayed at our friend’s Air BnB and we loved it. (Click here to see availability and booking details for their AirBnB.) Their Air BnB has two bedrooms, one with two queens, one with two fulls. The beds were very comfortable, each room has fans, and we slept like babies. This was perfect for two couples or a large family. There is a spacious living room, full-size fridge, washer & dryer, 3 bathrooms, 3 balconies, and plenty of closet space.  We stopped at the grocery store on the first day to pick up drinks and snacks, and it was great having a large fridge to keep our cervezas cold. It’s very safe with a 24/7 security guard at the front entrance, pool and was a 15-minute walk to town. I did a quick recap video of their Air BnB here: Click the map to view the location of the Air BnB: Another great option for lodging is Casa Angelitas Bed and Breakfast. It’s a beautiful compound is in the hills above town in a very nice neighborhood. But you will definitely need a taxi to bring you home, those hills are no joke! There are a ton of great hotels, bed and breakfasts, and home rentals you can check out. The food There are so many options! We only tried a sliver of the many restaurants in town, even though it felt like we were eating all the time. Here’s where we ate and what we tried: El Manantial â€“ Nice spot in the middle of town for lunch. Try the tuna tostadas and margaritas. La Unica â€“ fabulous and trendy dinner spot, we had the ribeye, bone marrow, Ceaser salad, artichoke, queso fundio, salt fish (if they have it), and spicy margaritas. Their rooftop has an amazing view of the church. La Rustica â€“ charming breakfast spot in a garden setting, try the chilaquiles and a latte. La Luna Lounge â€“ at Rosewood Mayakoba – beautiful rooftop bar with tapas and a nice wine selection. Go at sunset to take advantage of the gorgeous view of the valley. We ordered flatbreads, rib eye tacos, a charcuterie platter, and lots of wine. Unfortunately you won’t find many California wines on the menu, but try one of the local wines from Mexico. La Aurora â€“ historic museum with many artists in residence and places to explore. We had lunch here, I ordered a spicy chicken crispy salad and a michelada. La Azotea â€“ for dinner downstairs and drinks on the rooftop afterward. I ordered the shrimp fajitas and quest fundio and spicy margaritas. Upstairs, try the jicama tacos. This is also a great place to watch the Dia de los Muertos parades! El pollo feliz â€“ when opting for a quick and delicious lunch for a group, you can buy a whole chicken special. The chicken is charbroiled perfectly and their salsa is so yummy. It comes with rice and tortillas. Perfect for taking food with you on the go or eating back in your condo. Hanks â€“ this Louisiana themed bar & restaurant situated in the middle of town is lively and beautiful. Try the oysters on the half shell and keep the drinks coming. Mama Mia â€“ when you’re ready for live music in a beautiful setting, check out Mama Mia’s. The building has a glass roof, so you’re dining under… Continue reading FOLLOW ME TO SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, MX FOR DIA DE LOS MUERTOS! 🇲🇽💀🖤

JOHNNY AND ANA’S HALLOWEDDING

A Hallowedding is a wedding that falls on or near October 31st, and involves a couple that loves Halloween and wants to create a spooktacular nuptial experience rather than a traditional wedding. Why a Hallowedding? When it came time for bride Ana Rodriguez to plan her wedding, she did not want to do what every other bride would do.  Ana decided on a Hallowedding because she loves Halloween and she is not a traditional bride. She wanted something different! Johnny, her husband-to-be was up for the challenge and was all for the unique theme.  And since Ana is also the owner of Enchanting Crafts by Ana, an online boutique dedicated to creating hand-crafting beautiful decor and gifts, there was no way her wedding was not going to be, well, enchanting.   A glam spooky theme For inspiration, she turned to dark, mysterious colors. She knew she wanted to incorporate black and plum, and her fiance loved the color red. She wanted touches of bling and glam, glitter and gold.  Once she had her colors, she thought about the different decor pieces. Halloween is full of fun decor like skulls, pumpkins, and creepy, spooky, goth elements.  She then broke it down by all the elements she’d need for her celebration. She thought about how she was going to incorporate those colors and elements into the dessert table, centerpieces, sweetheart table, and more. The joy of creating custom pieces Ana knew right away she was going to make everything by hand. Even though her friends tried to talk her out of it, she loved the ritual of coming up with design concepts and bringing her vision to life. She worked on a few pieces throughout the year, but the bulk of the creations were done the month of the wedding. She took some time off of work to make sure she had extra time to get it all done.  To plan, she went old school – good ol’ pen and paper. She had a wedding notebook with all the details. She broke down her planning process by thinking about each element she needed, the details it would have, what to buy, and what she needed to do.  An enchanting bride Her dress was another masterpiece. Of all the elements of the party, people commented on the dress the most. She knew she wanted a dark dress, and originally thought she might choose red or plum. When she walked out in her long elegant black dress, her new husband was speechless, and everything got silent. Guests were blown away by her spooky and glamorous look.  Another surprise was her beautiful accessories. Ana wore a black tulle train with twinkle lights embedded into the fabric, and a black crown, fit for the most alluring villainess. Her transformation into a beautiful Hallowedding bride was stunning. Her wedding party wore shades of red, plum, and black. Her new husband Johnny chose a red vest while his best man wore a purple vest. Her maid of honor, Donna, wore a plum dress, and her daughter Angel wore a burgundy plum dress. Their floral bouquets and boutonnieres tied everyone’s unique attire altogether. Treat your guests to something spooky and savory For food, she went with family favorites – birria and tacos prepared by her good friend and caterer Chivitas catering.  Ana’s best friend Donna created a fabulous dessert table with fun elements like Spider web pretzels, venus fly trap cupcakes, and more. Her cake was made with a smooth black fondant adorned with red roses and topped with a corpse bride and groom. Setting the final look One of Ana’s favorite pieces of decor was her sweetheart table. She incorporated a ceremonial backdrop with spooky-glam elements, Mr. & Mrs. pumpkins, and lots of beautiful sparkly touches. The bold neon “Till Death” sign gave a new meaning to those traditional vows. One of her most memorable moments was putting together her Dia de los Muertos alter. Going back and looking at pictures of loved ones who have passed was very emotional. Realizing that these beloved people who would have wanted to be there to celebrate her big day, and aren’t here anymore, was sad, but also connected her more with her whole wedding experience. Thinking of hosting a Hallowedding? Her advice for future brides is to enjoy every minute and lean into your creativeness. Many brides aren’t aware of the many options you have in creating your own unique look for your wedding. It’s true what they say, your wedding flies by in a flash! She wishes she could go back and relive that day all over again. She also is so appreciative of everyone who helped make her wedding a success and said it wouldn’t have been possible without a lot of helping hands. Special thanks to everyone who made this event possible: Makeup and hair – @doneupbydonna and @cindyprostylist Catering/rentals/day-of coordinator – @chivitaspartyrentals_catering Rentals – @glamarispartyrentals Photobooth – @modernglamphotobooth Wedding cake – @margiescakes Photographers  @a11y_pr0venghi and @oohlala_photostudio Chapel – @albertsonweddingchapel Ceremony singer – @elmer.abapo Custom light up skirt – @zealouzboutique Candy Apples – @sweetsby_abbyxoxo
